Abi Jameson
A contemporary artist living in France.
I originally trained in scenic painting and worked in theatre, but found my true calling as a professional artist when I moves to France from the UK for love in 2002 and started painting full time!
In 2013 I lost much of my sight! This took some adjusting to say the least! I do believe though, it's the moment I became artistically focused.
Being partially sighted, I cannot see people’s expressions or the beautiful lines of the female form anymore unless I am very close. My art is how I make sense of the abstract world around me and the feelings within.
Creating the work is an extremely personal process that I believe has saved me.
Sometimes we find life a struggle. Sometimes we put ourselves down. My art is about finding your inner strength and positivity. About coping with the chaos that can unexpectedly come our way. It's about recognising and celebration the differences in us all, which ultimately unites us.
When I lost my vision and most of my confidence, that was one of life's unexpected turns.
Art offered me a way back to
connecting with my natural inner peace, strength and happiness. My work is the harnessed
result of these emotions and connections.

Inspiration
I sketch constantly, looking for that stand out expression, moment in time or composition that encapsulates Inner strength, peace and beauty.or Life's Dance!!!
I portray these themes usually through my adoration of the female portait and dance.
These themes mixed with spontaneity, intuition and conscious decision making usually allows the artwork to evolve.
Techniques
I love working with mixed media. My favourite mediums at the moment are acrylics, watercolour and Chinese inks.
Opposites also visually inspire me and how they can live harmoniously together.
I often meticulously structure my sketches and paintings before spontaneously marking on them. From absolute precision with my magnifying glass to random chaos. This often pulls me closer to portraying the calm within lifes unexpected chaos.
career highlights
Exhibiting in Paris had always been a dream of mine, so I was thrilled and humbled when I was invited to exhibit in Galerie Sonia Monti in Paris this year, who now represent some of my original artworks.
i was also very proud to exhibit in the city of Genoa!
Finally I was very honoured to be asked to be published in
Curatorial Volume III, published July 2021.
